ABOUT BIOSCIENCE BIOETHICS

Fundamental changes in society brought about by science and technology have affected human relationships and practices in often unpredictable ways. The maintenance of a healthy human society in harmony with the environment has become increasingly problematic. In many instances traditional/cultural ethical principles are no longer valid or even helpful, so new survival priorities have to evolve. Bioscience ethics links science and technology with their social consequences so that it is useful and practical to examine our lifestyle from new perspectives.

This site has been established to facilitate free public access to information, skills and insights about bioscience ethics and bioethics. I’m optimistic that by sharing knowledge among friends across nations, attention on the interface of biology and ethics will sharpen. Group experience and accomplishment present extremely powerful learning environments on many levels. Working in collaboration toward a common purpose creates a kind of alchemy which soon becomes greater than the sum of its part. By way of initial browsing, you can inspect the education link containing the electronic version of my book ‘Life, Love and Children: A Practical Introduction to Bioscience Ethics and Bioethics’ and links to the living ‘UNESCO/IUBS/EUBIOS Bioethics Dictionary’ among other practical material. My anticipation is that with deepened biological understanding new standards of social conduct, more in cooperation and harmony with the environment and ourselves, will evolve. Thank you for taking the time to visit the bioscience-bioethics friendship cooperative.
